Morris Babyface encouraged me to record “Go Go Sugarcane” – Naa Agyeman
According to Naa Agyeman, he originally coined the playful term Go Go Sugarcane long before he ventured into music

Highlife musician Naa Agyeman has shared the story behind one of his most iconic songs, Go Go Sugarcane. In an interview with Obomengniibaa Nana Akua on AsaasePa Kwahu Easter Activation on AsaasePa 107.3, the veteran singer revealed how music producer Morris Babyface played a pivotal role in bringing the song to life.
According to Naa Agyeman, he originally coined the playful term Go Go Sugarcane long before he ventured into music.
“I’m a Kumasi guy and people from Kumasi love to play with words,” he said. “These were terms I used way back before I even became a musician. But when I finally entered the music scene, Morris Babyface encouraged me to turn it into a song. I told him they were just playful words I used casually, but we ended up recording it and it became a hit.”
The catchy song has since become a household favourite, known for its distinctive style and memorable lyrics.
As part of the AsaasePa Kwahu Easter Activation, Naa Agyeman is expected to thrill fans with a live band performance at Kwahu Bar. His appearance is highly anticipated as he brings timeless Highlife classics and stagecraft to the heart of the Easter celebrations.
