The Asaase Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Asaase Broadcasting Company, has donated two brand new dialysis machines to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH), offering critical relief to patients and strengthening renal care services in the Central Region.
The gesture comes at a pivotal time for the hospital, which has been operating with ageing dialysis equipment for years.

Delivering the machines on behalf of the Foundation, General Manager of Asaase Broadcasting Company, Jimmy Kutin, said the support reflects the organisation’s commitment to public service and improving the wellbeing of communities across Ghana.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kutin emphasised that Asaase Broadcasting Company’s national footprint places a responsibility on the organisation to respond to community needs, especially in health.

“As the voice of our land, this responsibility goes beyond the airwaves. It demands empathy, service, and practical support,” he said.
He added that the decision to support Cape Coast was personal:
“Cape Coast is my home. Contributing to the growth of healthcare here carries special meaning for me.”
Kutin noted that rising kidney-related cases and increasing pressure on dialysis services make this donation urgent and necessary.
“These two dialysis machines are more than equipment. They represent our commitment to long, healthy living for our people and our partnership with the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital in saving lives.”

Hospital welcomes long-awaited boost
Chief Executive Officer of CCTH, Eric Obeng Gyedu, expressed gratitude for the donation, revealing the extent of the hospital’s challenges.
He explained that the hospital once operated 16 dialysis machines, most of which are now 15 years old and unfit for use. Only six remain functional.
“This facility has outgrown being a mere dialysis service centre. We need to upgrade it into a nephrology centre,” he said.
He described the Foundation’s support as timely, especially as the hospital prepares to establish a full nephrology centre next year.
“We are very excited to receive this support. It helps us make up for the 10 aged machines we urgently need to replace,” he added.

Traditional authority calls for compassion and community support
The Omanhene of Cape Coast, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, praised the donation and urged the public to emulate acts of compassion.
He shared a personal reflection about a friend who struggled to afford dialysis treatments, underscoring the emotional and financial burden faced by many patients.

“It is up to us to look at what Asaase has done and learn from this. It doesn’t have to be billions of cedis. A word of encouragement, taking somebody to the right place, showing love to our neighbours — even our enemies — will make this world a better place,” he said.
He encouraged the hospital to maintain the machines with the same care that has kept older ones functional for years.

Local authorities applaud public–private collaboration
The Municipal Chief Executive for Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, described the donation as a powerful example of how private-sector partnerships can strengthen Ghana’s health system.
“This support represents hope, compassion, and a deep commitment to saving lives,” he said.
He noted that kidney-related diseases continue to place severe financial strain on households.
“The availability of additional dialysis machines will greatly enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide timely and life-saving treatment.”
The MCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and creating an enabling environment for further investments in public health.

A partnership that saves lives
The donation reaffirms the Asaase Foundation’s broader mission of responding to national needs, supporting vulnerable communities, and contributing to the country’s development beyond the media space.
For patients in the Central Region who depend on dialysis for survival, the new machines mark renewed hope — and a reminder that empathy, partnership and social responsibility can save lives.
