Meet the new voice of Asaase Café: Naa Dzama brings her bold vibe to the midmorning mic

Asaase 99.5’s beloved Café show has a new voice—and it’s one that’s as vibrant, warm, and compelling as the morning sun.

Meet Jemima Naa Dzama Sowah, the dynamic new host of Asaase Café on Asaase 99.5 Accra, who officially takes over the midmorning airwaves with her infectious energy and deep passion for connection, joy, and authenticity.

“I’m just excited to be discovering the different facets of me,” Naa Dzama shares in her first interview since joining Asaase. A proud blend of Ewe, Fanti, and Ga heritage, she describes herself as a “beautiful cocktail” of cultures—a description that also perfectly captures her personality on and off air.

Naa Dzama’s journey into radio wasn’t planned—it was serendipitous.

“I was throwing a slumber party and the landlord just said, ‘Hey, that voice! Have you ever thought about radio?’” she recalls with a laugh.

That casual suggestion opened the door to a new world—radio became her “happy place,” a platform that allowed her to connect deeply with people from all walks of life. From her early days at YFM Kumasi to her new home at Asaase, Naa Dzama has grown into a versatile and relatable broadcaster who wears her heart on her sleeve.

Behind the mic, Naa Dzama is a mother, an advocate for women’s equality, and a self-described ambivert, more introverted than most assume. “People think I’m loud and always out there, but I’m actually shy. I’ve just learnt to mask it and flow with the moment,” she says.

But don’t mistake her calm for timidity. Naa Dzama brings an unmistakable energy to her shows—a synergy she creates with her DJ, her team, and most importantly, her listeners. “If I’m having fun, they’ll have fun too. I want to infect people with positive energy. Life is already stressful.”

Her return to radio was sparked by longing—“I had missed one of the loves of my life,” she confesses—and her connection to Asaase was almost poetic: “We needed each other.”

With Asaase Café, Naa Dzama is stepping into a role she loves deeply. “Midmorning shows are my favourite. And now I get to do this with Asaase—what could be better?”

She’s bringing her full self to the airwaves. That means raw emotion, real vibes, and a relentless dedication to making every listener feel seen and heard. She believes in radio as a space for escape and comfort.

“People may forget what you say, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel. I want them to remember that Naa Dzamah made them feel special, peaceful, and happy.”

As she settles into her new role, her message to listeners is clear: “I’m here for you.”

Catch Naa Dzama on Asaase Café, Monday to Friday, 10am to 12 noon—two hours of laughter, warmth, music, and that unmistakable vibe that only she can deliver.

So tune in, lean back, and let Naa Dzama take you on a midmorning journey that feels like coming home.
