Samuel Tiwonitaaba Kuteba is a native of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region and grew up as a shepherd in his formative stage from a family of 12.
The chief executive officer of Tiwonisan Group is renowned for training the dogs of some prominent Ghanaians including boxing legend Azuma Nelson.
Kuteba became popular after news of Ghanaian philanthropist Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, confirmed staying with two tigers in his Accra residence.
He was employed by Freedom Jacob Caesar to train the tigers.
The psychology graduate from the University of Ghana believes dogs play a critical role not only as companion but in the wellbeing of humans.
Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (4 July), Kuteba said he learned how to train dogs while working as a security officer in Accra.
“I learnt my dog training from Joojo (the dog), anytime I go to post as a security guard, I train the dog. When I get to post, I don’t sleep, I practice with that dog,” he said.
“And the confidence came when one day we had a show at the National Theatre, and I told my boss that I have trained this dog and I want us to go with the dog.”
Kuteba added: “And Joojo went and performed extremely well at the National Theatre and that built my confidence more nicely at the programme,” he said, adding that, “my first client that I got was boxing legend Azumah Nelson.”
