Cancelled! Kotoko’s Turkey trip off following visa problems

Asante Kotoko’s planned pre-season trip to Turkey has been cancelled following a management decision.

According to a club statement released on Sunday, 21st August 2022, the cancellation was due to ”issues related to delays in visa acquisition”.

On July 26, the reigning betPawa Premier League Champions announced plans to travel to the former Ottoman Empire, for pre-season.

Per that announcement, Kotoko were supposed team to stay in Turkey for a total of 15 days;  from August 15 and ending on August 30.

However, on August 14, Kotoko announced the trip had been postponed due to ”visa processing delays”. The statement in the said statement, indicated it would announce a new date for the trip.

Kotoko have since been training in Accra where they have already played two pre-season friendlies.

On Monday August 15, Kotoko beat lower tier side Panthers F.C 4-2 at the Legon Ajax Park in the first of the two friendlies. Kotoko’s second pre-season friendly match was with Ghana Army F.C, a match they won by 4-0.

The Porcupine Warriors will now travel to Birthday Wishes Sudan today for the second phase of their pre-season preparation.
