NPP primaries: Reject Asenso Boakye, Ken Agyapong to Bantama delegates

The Assin Central MP wants the delegates to endorse his brother and main contender Lawyer Ralph Agyapong, who he says, is the best candidate to retain the seat for the governing party

Controversial Ghanaian politician Kennedy Agyapong is urging delegates in Bantama to reject their current Member of Parliament Francis Asenso Boakye, during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.

The Assin Central MP wants the delegates to endorse his brother and main contender Lawyer Ralph Agyapong, who he says, is the best candidate to retain the seat for the governing party.

Amid wild allegations, Agyapong who is captured in a viral video revealed how the sitting MP engaged in dodgy dealings while serving as a deputy chief of staff at the Jubilee House, the seat of government.

“… [In fact] I was referring to Asenso when I cautioned elements at the Jubilee House to stop embarrassing the president with their bribery spree…You should be ashamed of yourself to go and vote for a corrupt MP like Asenso again”, he said.

“I am ready to drop more revelations. If you don’t want me to talk, vote against him”, Agyapong warned as he campaigned for his brother ahead of the party’s internal election.

The comments by Agyapong highlight the ongoing internal dynamics and debates within the NPP, adding a layer of controversy to the internal elections.

The primary is slated for 27 January 2024. It is the last internal election as the party gears up for the 2024 general elections.
