Emmanuel Aboagye-Wiafe, host of Energy 101 on Asaase 99.5 Accra, has won the ‘Energy Reporter of the Year’ at the 2023 Ghana Energy Awards in Accra.

This is the second time that Aboagye-Wiafe has won the Energy Reporter of the Year award this year.

In June, the host of Asaase’s flagship energy programme Energy 101, was acknowledged at the 2023 Think Energy SDGs Awards.

The seasoned broadcast journalist was recognised for his wealth of knowledge in the energy sector and how he uses his weekly show on Asaase 99.5 Accra to break down energy-related issues in Ghana and beyond.

Speaking after being declared the winner, Aboagye-Wiafe said “This is a double recognition for me; it shows how important energy issues are coming up in the media space. Being nominated means the essence of energy reporting is beginning to show more light.”

“Even though it is a personal honour, I also see it as a general corporate honour for Asaase Broadcasting Company,” he added.

Aboagye-Wiafe has over the years used his experience in the energy sector to educate the public and communicate the essence of shifting the focus to renewable energy usage as part of achieving SDGs targets 7 and 13.
