The MP for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, on Sunday 27 April, led a grand ceremony to honour branch executives who helped secure a resounding parliamentary and presidential victory for the NDC.
The event was hosted at the Astro Turf in Madina to celebrate the constituency’s branch executives for their contributions to the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) electoral success.
The ceremony brought together 3,889 party executives, including ward coordinators, secretaries, organisers, zonal leaders, assembly members and unit committee members from all 321 polling stations. It served as a platform to appreciate their dedication, loyalty and tireless work during the 2024 campaigns.
Addressing the gathering, Sosu announced a series of awards and incentives to promote excellence and commitment at the grassroots. Branches that recorded the highest votes were honoured with prizes such as motorcycles, laptops, tricycles, foreign trips, scholarships, job placement opportunities and cash awards.
“We are not just giving out awards; we are recognising the sacrifices made by our grassroots soldiers. Our politics is not going to be transactional — it will be transformational,” Sosu said.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of a One Million Ghana Cedis (GHC 1,000,000) welfare scheme under the “Madina Potwesi” initiative, with an initial deposit of GHC 100,000.
The fund is intended to provide medical and emergency support for grassroots members who continue to serve the party selflessly. Sosu appealed to philanthropists and well-wishers to contribute towards the fund’s sustainability.
The MP also paid tribute to campaigners who tragically lost their lives during the election period, including Nathaniel, vowing to honour their memories through ongoing support for party members.
The event, which many described as historic, ended with music, dancing, and a renewed pledge by the executives to work harder towards future victories for the NDC.
