The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has said there is a mad rush for 2022 vehicle number plates since it resumed operations on 2 January.
The Greater Accra regional manager of the DVLA Attah Kumah Mensah said the procedure for vehicle registration this year has been relatively smooth.
“We are not in normal times and we don’t want the customers to crowd, that is why we have set up canopies. We also have two information desks in each center to speed up the process,” Mensah said at a media interaction.
According to him, vehicle owners have begun flooding their offices to acquire fresh 2022 registered number plates.
Mensah also touched on recent report on the increase in duplication of TIN numbers on different vehicles. An occurrence he believes will be reduced with the introduction of the online registration systems.
In the statement released, DVLA informed customers of measures to adhere to, to avoid long delays and crowding at the various registration centres in anticipation of the perennial rush to register and license vehicles.
