Locals protest against seven-month power outages in Salaga

Residents of Salaga on Wednesday (27 July) protested against the frequent power outages over the past seven months.

The aggrieved members of the Concerned Youth Citizens of Salaga and Arise Youth of Salaga have given the government two months to fix the problem in the East Gonja municipality.

The convenor of the groups, Ibrahim Anyass, said after 1 October they will be forced to take extreme measures against the Volta River Authority (VRA).

The residents have appealed to officials to construct a sub-station in Salaga to serve the community and its environs.

The municipal coordinating director, Chief Ibn Zakaria Wumbe, received the petition and gave the protesters the assurance that their issues would be handled as soon as possible.
