Liberia lottery chief hails Ghana counterpart during working visit

The Director-General of the Liberia National Lottery Authority (NLA), Peter L. Solo has praised Ghana’s National Lottery Authority for what he described as its “outstanding leadership” in the gaming industry.

Solo, who was appointed recently, led a delegation including his deputy, Richlue O. Burphy, and other directors to Accra on Wednesday (27 August) for a working visit.

He said the trip was to formally introduce himself to the Ghanaian management team and to strengthen existing ties between the two institutions. He also revealed that Liberia’s lottery authority was preparing to launch the popular 5/90 game, and sought technical guidance from Ghana, regarded as a regional pioneer in the scheme.

Ghana’s NLA Director-General, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, welcomed the delegation alongside his deputy, Eric Yeboah Wadie, and other executives. He congratulated Solo on his appointment and pledged to support Liberia’s rollout of the game.

Abdul-Salam announced that a technical committee would be established to work with their Liberian counterparts on areas including regulation, operations and monitoring.
