LEKMA Unit Committee members urge President Akufo-Addo to re-nominate rejected MCE

Unit Committee members of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) are appealing to President Akufo-Addo to re-nominate Mordecai Quarshie

Unit Committee members of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) together with the Teshie Youth Development group have made a passionate appeal to President Akufo-Addo to re-nominate Mordecai Quarshie, for the post of Municipal Chief Executive for LEKMA after he was rejected during the Municipal Assembly’s confirmation vote on the 6th of October 2021.

Addressing a joint press conference by the two groups held at Teshie on the 12th of October 2021, Michael Ashidam, Unit Committee Chairman for Tsuibleoo South Electoral Area in the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly noted the rejection of the President’s nominee for MCE was occasioned by, some Assembly Members belonging to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who voted against the nominee for no justifiable reasons.

“Chiefly among their cock and bull story given as reason was the fact that the nominee is not an indigen and not a Ga too. The question is, are Gas separated from non-Gas during voting? If the bigots care to know, at Amansie West, one Hon Ollenu has been confirmed by able assembly members as District Chief Executive,” Michael Ashidam said.

“As community members who have the development of the town at heart, we were shocked and highly disappointed when the unfortunate news about the no vote broke. Although we have been aware of the machinations of the tribal bigots and their appendages in politically colored fugu, we overestimated the intelligence of some of our Assembly Members only for them to sell themselves so cheap. So cheap that they could not tell the difference between their left and right hands,” Ashidam added.

Second Confirmation Vote

The Unit Committee Chairman for Tsuibleoo south electoral area Michael Ashidam, on behalf of his colleagues indicated that should the President re-nominate Mordecai Quarshie for the position of MCE, they have what it takes to lobby the assembly to get him confirmed in a second confirmation vote.

“Ashidam is an astute grassroots politician who clearly understands the developmental needs of people and has the needed capacity to shoulder the Municipal Assembly to greater heights. We have identified the challenges that led to the no vote for Mordecai Quarshie on the 6th of October and we are confident of getting him confirmed should a second confirmation vote be held for Mordecai,” Michael Ashidam said.

Profile of Mordecai Quarshie

Mordecai Quarshie, holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.
