Menzgold saga: Don’t fall for NAM1’s new scam, aggrieved customers say

Customers of the defunct gold dealership firm say the owner of Menzgold is back again with another scam

Some aggrieved customers of Menzgold have advised Ghanaians not to fall prey to what they described as a “new scam” by the CEO of the gold dealership firm, Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM1.

Menzgold over the weekend informed customers to purchase a GHC650 Menzgold digital verification access card in order to verify their transactions. According to Menzgold, over 60% of claims were fraught with unacceptable infractions.

The company said the verification will help to conduct due diligence on customers they are indebted to before making any payments.

After a barrage of public backlash, Menzgold said on Sunday that customers are no longer required to pay the GHC650 before the verification.

Reacting to the development on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (21 August), a spokesperson for the aggrieved customers Eric Baffour Amankwah described the latest development as deception.

“I quite remember we did a nationwide verification which was very stressful,” Amankwah said. “So, after that verification, we tried to engage NAM1 and up till now, it’s getting to two years, there wasn’t any answer.”

“But before the verification, we had a meeting with him and he informed as to go for that verification and we did that and there wasn’t any payment… About a month later Playboy [a payment firm] came up and NAM1 told us that if we want our money we should go to playboy.

“And up till now those who paid money to Playboy have not received their monies. So, we are telling members not to go for this scam again,” he said.
