President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to launch immediate investigations into suspected corruption cases uncovered by the ‘Operation Recover All Loots’ (ORAL) committee.
The directive follows the submission of a detailed report exposing financial malfeasance and the misappropriation of public resources.
Receiving the report on Monday (10 February) President Mahama stated, “I have promptly handed over the report to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and I give him firm instructions to commence immediate investigations into the cases reported in here.”
He further instructed that individuals found guilty of corruption or related offenses must face prosecution.
The President issued a stern warning to those attempting to exploit the system for personal gain, emphasizing that Ghana will no longer tolerate corruption.
“To those who believe they can deceive the state and avoid consequences, this should be a clear warning—Ghana will no longer tolerate corruption,” he cautioned.
“To those who stand for integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, I assure you that this government remains your steadfast partner in building a nation where honesty and hard work are rewarded,” he assured.
Expressing the gravity of the revelations, he described receiving the report as a solemn responsibility.
“It is with great solemnity and a deep sense of duty that I receive this comprehensive report of Operation Recover All Loot, an initiative that represents unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption, financial malfeasance, and the misappropriation of public resources,” Mahama said.
He emphasized that the misuse of public funds not only derails national development but also erodes public trust and deepens inequality. The ORAL initiative was launched to reclaim state assets wrongfully acquired and return them to the Ghanaian people.
Commending the ORAL team for their dedication, the President acknowledged their work in conducting investigations and legal proceedings without expecting compensation. He highlighted the report’s findings as evidence of his administration’s commitment to accountability.
“The findings of this report make for sober reading. They reveal the scale of financial linkages that have cost our nation dearly—resources that should have been invested in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social development,” Mahama noted.
Despite the concerning revelations, the President expressed optimism that through collective efforts, Ghana can recover stolen assets and prevent future financial misconduct. He assured Ghanaians that legal action will follow where necessary.
“The recommendations of the report will be carefully studied, and where legal action and investigations are warranted, they will be pursued without fear or favour. Every resource recovered will be channelled back into national development, and mechanisms will be strengthened to prevent such losses in the future,” he affirmed.
