The Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor has commissioned an ultramodern maternity ward in Larabanga to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
The facility has been named after the founder of the Larabanga Community (Yirdana Braimah Maternity Ward), situated in the heart of Larabanga health centre.
At a short ceremony before the commissioning on Friday (14 June 2024), Jinapor said providing the health needs of his constituents cannot be taken for granted since it brings quality healthcare service to the doorsteps of the people.
He indicated that, unlike others who think politics is about insults, he has seen politics differently.
“Politics is not bitterness, it’s not violence… Politics is about service, it’s about working for the people, it’s about being humble, [and] it’s about providing their needs,” Jinapor stated.
He reiterated his commitment to uniting and bringing development to the people at all times.
As part of the commissioning, the lawmaker also donated a brand new ambulance to the Larabanga Health Centre to aid in referral cases to other health facilities and also transport patients from remote communities to the centre.
The municipal health director, Gertrude Yentumi, thanked the Member of Parliament for his continued efforts towards healthcare delivery in the Municipality, adding that the move by the MP to get this maternity for the people is in the right direction.
She also appealed to the MP to extend his helping hand to other areas within the health sector in Damongo.
