Kwesi Arthur: “Son of Jacob” is my biggest achievement

Kwesi Arthur

The award-winning Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur has said that his latest album titledSon of Jacob” is his biggest achievement so far.

In an interview with Solomon Ter, host of Accra-Lagos-Joburg show on Asaase Radio, the songwriter said “none of my projects reached this far and it’s been only seven days.”

“Son of Jacob” is currently ranked number one on the Apple Ghana Charts.

The album has received positive feedback from his fans as well as other music aficionados. All the 15 tracklist has made it up to the top 1 to 15.

According to him, the album is the introduction to his “Ashawo season”.

Growth in the music industry

“My assessment of the Ghana music industry is that it’s growing, although it’s still young,” the anthem hitmaker said.

“I like how new individuals are given the chance to showcase what they have, it feels like in every couple of months there is a new face, there’s a new artiste, there is a new song and that makes me excited because it keeps us on our toes,” the 27-year-old said.

He added that there is strength in numbers and the more artistes “we have helps Ghana to increase representation.”

Challenges in the industry

Kwesi Arthur also bemoaned how songs from other artistes are not supported because of their inability to pay money to promoters.

“If you are not willing to give certain industry players money then your music won’t grow as fast as other artistes.

“So, even if the song they produce is good, it won’t get as much attention as others which I feel it’s someway but as time goes on, the industry gets better,” the Woara hitmaker said.
