Head coach of Sudan’s national football team, Kwesi Appiah, has earned a nomination for the prestigious Coach of the Year accolade at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards.
Appiah, who guided Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, is among four nominees in the highly competitive category.
Under his leadership, Sudan have also remained in contention for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, collecting 12 points from six matches—just one point behind Group B leaders, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Joining him on the shortlist is Frimpong Manso, current head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars. Manso has steered the Miners to the top of the Ghana Premier League table with 60 points, with one match remaining in the season. His efforts have placed Gold Stars on the cusp of their first-ever league title.
Kassim Ocansey of Nations FC is also recognised for his outstanding season. His team shares the same number of points with Gold Stars and remains a strong contender for the championship in what has been a historic campaign for the club.
Completing the list is Fiifi Parker-Hanson, head coach of Division One League side Golden Kicks. Parker-Hanson made headlines by leading his team to the final of the 2025 FA Cup, becoming the first coach since 2016 to achieve this feat with a lower-tier club.
The 2025 Ghana Football Awards ceremony is scheduled for 14 June at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
