Kwakye Ofosu’s incoherent defence deepens AirMed confusion – NPP’s Akosua Manu

Speaking on The Forum, Manu said the handling of the matter involving the attempted arrest of Assin South MP Rev John Ntim Fordjour raises serious questions and calls for a bipartisan probe

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Akosua Asaa Manu, has chastised Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a spokesperson for President Mahama, for what she describes as a “confused and incoherent” defence of government actions in the ongoing AirMed controversy.

Speaking on The Forum, Manu said the handling of the matter involving the attempted arrest of Assin South MP Rev John Ntim Fordjour raises serious questions and calls for a bipartisan probe.

She also accused Ofosu of shifting narratives insisting that his remarks reflect the position of President Mahama.

“It is ridiculous for him to say the things he said. When you lie and you are not smart in lying, everything you say is an afterthought. Because by the end of [last] Monday, Felix had introduced four planes into the conversation,” she told the host Wilberforce Asare.

“If anybody comes to say that even the President is not aware of these issues, I beg to differ because Felix is speaking the mind of the President when he comes to talk to us. He has even said they are not interested in following the investigations as far as they are concerned.”

She also raised concerns about the manner in which Rev. Ntim Fordjour was allegedly handled by National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officers. Referring to claims that the MP had been formally invited, she questioned why no official documentation had been made public.

“To make an example of Rev Ntim Fordjour, was that a threat? To have 15 to 20 men move into his house and he is a Member of Parliament for that matter?”

“You claim he was invited by the NIB and you said the invitation went through the Speaker. How come we haven’t seen the letter, knowing how they like to release things and evidence and all that? Why haven’t we seen the letter inviting him?”

Asaa Manu concluded with a call for transparency, urging the state to institute a bipartisan investigation into the matter.
