Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has secured a significant position in African football governance after being elected as a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.
His election, which will see him serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029, marks a major milestone for Ghanaian football, as Okraku joins the 24-member decision-making body responsible for shaping the future of the sport across the continent.
Okraku, who ran unopposed, has played a key role in the development of football in Ghana, leading efforts to improve domestic leagues, youth development, and international partnerships. His appointment to CAF’s
Executive Committee is expected to further elevate Ghana’s influence in African football and open new opportunities for collaboration, investment, and structural improvements within the sport.
In his acceptance remarks, Okraku expressed gratitude to the football fraternity for their support and pledged to
work diligently in advancing African football. “This is not just a personal achievement, but a victory for Ghanaian
football. I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure African football grows stronger and more competitive on the global stage,” he said.
With Okraku now at the helm of decision-making within CAF, Ghanaian football stakeholders anticipate greater representation and stronger advocacy for the country’s football interests at the continental level.
His appointment signals a new chapter for African football leadership, with expectations high for strategic reforms and progressive policies that will drive the game forward.
