Kumasi: Police rescue baby after gunmen snatched mother’s vehicle at church

The police say the baby has since been reunited with the mother and they are currently pursuing the suspects

The police in the Ashanti Region have rescued a baby on board a Toyota Corolla vehicle after gunmen snatched it from the owner at a church in Santasi.

They have mounted  a search for the gunmen after reuniting the baby with the mother.

A statement from the police said, “On Sunday 16 January 2022, police had information that a red Toyota Corolla with a child onboard has been snatched from its owner at the premises of Good Hope Chapel, Santasi a suburb of Kumasi by some two unidentified gunmen.”

“The police upon receipt of the information swiftly set out all patrol vehicles and motorbikes within the metropolis in search of the said vehicle and its occupants (suspects). Sensing danger on the approach of the police vehicles and a taxi cab, the suspects abandoned the vehicle around Dakwadwom and fled into a nearby bush.”
