The office of former president John Agyekum Kufuor has denied media reports suggesting that the statesman has endorsed the candidature of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
At a public event recently, Kufuor described Bawumia as a “true son” and a loyal party member.
A statement issued by the office of the former president on Wednesday (22 June) said there was nothing political about the remarks, adding that all the prospective candidates have the potential to lead the party into the 2024 elections.
“This office wants to empathically deny that any such endorsement took place on the said occasion and bemoans the fact that what transpired has been seriously misconstrued,” the statement said.
