Korea applauds Samson Deen’s re-Election, showcases strong support for Africa’s Para-Sport growth

The Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC) and the BDH Paras Foundation have congratulated Samson Deen on his re-election as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), praising his leadership and the growing Korea–Africa partnership in disability sports.

KPC President Jin-owan Jung described Deen’s victory as a reflection of “outstanding leadership and deep continental trust,” while the BDH Paras Foundation’s Chairman Bae Dong Hyun reaffirmed his organisation’s “unwavering commitment” to supporting Africa’s Paralympic progress.

Korea has become one of Africa’s strongest international partners in para-sports. Major contributions include:

In 2022, KPC donated a fully accessible 40-seater bus for the Accra 2023 African Para Games, boosting mobility for athletes and officials and strengthening Africa’s para-sport logistics.

The KPC cooperation continues with Deployment of Technical Advisors to Ghana (KOICA)

• Professor Youhwan Kim, appointed as Technical Advisor and Sports Development Director for NPC Ghana, supports:

• Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games preparations

• 2027 African Para Games

• LA 2028 Paralympic Games

• Dr. James Lee, the first KOICA-deployed advisor, played a major role in the successful delivery of the 1st African Para Games, offering technical expertise, equipment coordination, and Games management support.

Korea also supplied sports equipment, assistive devices, technical training, and Games-operations expertise to strengthen Africa’s performance standards and event delivery.

The latest messages from KPC and BDH highlight Korea’s growing alignment with Africa’s Paralympic agenda.

Samson Deen praised Korea’s solidarity, noting that the continent’s first Para Games “received massive support from the Korean Government and KPC.”

As Deen begins his new term, both sides are set to deepen cooperation—advancing athlete development, strengthening para-sport governance, and expanding Asia–Africa collaboration in disability inclusion
