Koku Anyidoho to Nketiah: I’m still a loyal member of NDC

The former deputy general secretary of the NDC says his expulsion is illegal because he was not invited to defend himself before the party’s disciplinary committee

Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the former deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has rejected his expulsion from the party, declaring he is still a loyal member.

In a letter dated Tuesday 27 July 2021 and addressed to Anyidoho, the general secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, announced that the party’s Functional Executive Council (FEC) has expelled Anyidoho from the party for “misconduct” and “anti-party behaviour”.

Reacting to the circumstances surrounding his expulsion in an exclusive interview with Beatrice Adu on The Big Bulletin, Anyidoho said the general secretary’s action is illegal and void because the party failed to give him any hearing.

“Precisely so. I was not invited before any disciplinary committee to defend myself and, as such, the recommendations of the committee cannot be legal and binding,” Anyidoho said.

Ultimatum

Meanwhile, in a letter dated 18 August 2021, Anyidoho has given the NDC a 72-hour ultimatum to reverse its decision and settle his alleged case of misconduct internally, or face him in court.

“So that letter you have seen is signed by me and I have given him [Asiedu Nketiah] 72 hours’ window to let us deal with this matter internally,” Anyidoho told Adu.

“But if he does not allow us to deal with this matter internally then I’ll deal with him in the court, where I believe there shall be non-partial adjudication of the issue.”
