Staff of Asaase Kumasi receive training in fire safety

The assistant divisional officer of the Ashanti Regional GNFS said it is important for staff to acquire knowledge in fire safety as this will guide their actions in times of emergency

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Ashanti Region has urged corporate institutions and religious bodies to engage the services of firefighters to educate their staff and congregants on fire safety periodically.
This comes in the wake of rampant fire outbreaks in the region.
The staff of Asaase Radio in Kumasi have been trained on fire safety. The assistant divisional officer of the Ashanti Regional GNFS, Christian Opoku Ohemeng, applauded the company’s management for making the  effort to train its staff on fire safety.
He said it is important for staff to acquire knowledge in fire safety as this will guide their actions in times of emergency.
The training included theoretical and practical sessions with each staff participating in fire drills.
Ohemeng expressed concern about the flagrant disregard for safety protocols, which he says accounts for the fire disasters recorded in recent times. He urged participants to adhere to safety precautions such as switching off all electrical gadgets when they are not in use and frequently inspecting and maintaining machinery.
He also advised that victims of fire disasters should cooperate with fire officers at the fire scene for thorough inspection and investigations.
The GNFS can be reached on 192/112/0322022221 in case of fire outbreaks.
