It has emerged that Percival Kofi Akpaloo, founder of the Liberal Party of Ghana, is under investigation for alleged financial crimes including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds and money laundering, according to Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) arrested Akpaloo on Wednesday (3 September), Sai disclosed in a post on Facebook.
He said the suspect had been granted police bail set at 10 million Ghana cedis with two sureties to be justified.
“Akpaloo remains in EOCO custody pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions,” Sai added.
EOCO has not yet issued a public statement on the arrest, and has not commented on the allegations.
