The New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong received prayers and blessings from the Missionaries of Charity Sisters on Friday after making a huge donation to their home in Ashanti New Town, Kumasi, in celebration of his 43rd birthday.
Motivation
“It’s something that I have been doing in the last decades, every day the Lord blesses me with life,” Kodua said.
“When it comes to this special day, which is my birthday, the only way I show gratitude to the Lord is to go to places where people are in distress and in need, to also show my appreciation for what the Lord has done for me by making donations.
So today we chose this Catholic orphanage to continue with what I have been doing. It is by the grace of God, and I just give thanks to Him.”
The donation, part of Kodua’s long-standing birthday tradition, included food and other essential supplies to support the welfare of the children and inmates at the orphanage.
Timely gesture
In response, the Missionaries of Charity Sisters prayed for Kodua, thanking God for his generosity and asking for continued blessings over his life and work.
Kodua said these acts of giving are not only a personal expression of gratitude but also a way to encourage a culture of service within the community.
“Every year when the Lord blesses me with life, I visit places where people are in distress to show appreciation,” he added.
The birthday event also provided an opportunity for Kodua to briefly highlight his political work with the NPP, linking personal service to broader leadership values.
Party executives and sympathizers who attended the event praised Kodua for his consistent outreach and for using personal milestones to make a positive impact on the lives of the vulnerable.
This annual tradition by Kodua reflects his commitment to combining personal faith, social responsibility, and community service.
Internal contest
Turning to politics, he said the NPP’s recent constitutional amendments and its decision to hold internal presidential primaries signal a party preparing to return to power.
“There is hope for the party,” he said. “If you monitor how we have begun the reorganisation after our painful defeat, it tells you we mean business.”
Caution
Kodua warned that as the presidential contest advances, tensions and provocative statements are inevitable, but said the party’s disciplinary structures will be used where necessary.
“People can go wayward and make unfounded allegations—it’s part of politics,” he said.
“But after 31 January, there will be no competition. We will have one flagbearer, one party, and we will move together in the spirit of reconciliation to fight the 2028 battle.”
