I’m now championing the cause of women with mental disabilities, says Dwamena-Aboagye

The executive director of the Ark Foundation, Angela Dwamena-Aboagye has said she is now focused on championing the cause of women with mental disabilities in Ghana.

Dwamena-Aboagye said injustices towards women and children is what motivated her to establish the Ark Foundation which turns 25 this year.

Ark Foundation is noted for establishing the first shelter in the country for battered women and children in 1999.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (17 April), Dwamena-Aboagye said, “You have to use your God-given skills for the betterment of humanity.”

“I advanced my theological studies to help me enhance my understanding of who God is and broaden my knowledge. I would like to work for women who have mental disabilities and are abused. This is a particular group that I would like to work for and it takes special skills to handle,” she said.

Dwamena-Aboagye added: “We have put together a legacy treasure fund to help sustain the work we do at the Ark Foundation. So the work of the foundation will continue even after I am gone.”
