Preserving John Achuliwor’s legacy: Otito Achuliwor donates 2,000 exercise books to schools in Navrongo

The donation was presented to the Kassena-Nankana Municipal education directorate for onward distribution to the various schools in the area

The brother of late John Setuni Achuliwor and Parliamentary candidate hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo central constituency, Alhaji Otito Achuliwor, has made a donation of exercise books to basic schools in the area.

The donation, which was presented to the Kassena-Nankana Municipal education directorate for onward distribution to schools, falls in line with the commitment by Alhaji Otito Achuliwor and the family to immortalize the late John Setuni Achuliwor, a former and New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Navrongo.

At the 20th anniversary memorial service for the late Setuni Achuliwor earlier this year, the Achuliwor family, led by Alhaji Otito, outlined a number of projects planned for execution to preserve the legacy of the former statesman, which included the distribution of branded books to schools, erections of monuments within the Navrongo township, among others.

Alhaji Otito at the memorial service noted that the projects would help solidify the love of the constituents for the late Setuni who is credited for bringing great development to Navrongo and immortalize his legacy for generations. The family at the service described the late Setuni as a great humanitarian who worked to improve the lives of his constituents.

Addressing Journalists after presenting the books to the municipal education authority, Alhaji Otito reiterated that the donation was to, aside from helping improve teaching and learning in schools, expose the legacy of John Setuni Achuliwor to the new generation in the constituency.

He added that it was also the intent of the family to use the books to encourage pupils to take their education seriously and inspire them to be great men and women in future.

“The books are branded books that bear the picture of the first NPP MP for the Navrongo Central who happened to be my immediate senior brother. On his 20th anniversary celebration, I made an announcement that myself and the family will donate exercise books with his effigy to schools in the constituency.

“We are doing this so that the little ones who did not grow up to meet him, will see him and it will motivate them to learn. So, we are bringing the books in batches of 2,000 and this is the first batch of 2,000 books that I am presenting to you.” Otito told the education directorate.

This is not the first time Alhaji Otito has extended his generosity to the municipal education directorate. Earlier last month, the aspirant fully settled the two-months electricity bill of the directorate to have its offices reconnected to the power grid.

Alice Ellen Abeere-Inga, the municipal education director said Alhaji Otito’s acts of kindness and committed to the growth of education in the area was commendable.

That, she said the Ghana Education Service (GES) was grateful for. On the books, Abeere-Inga assured equitable distribution to pupils in the various schools to achieve enhanced the academic growth as intended by the family.

She said, “this is not the first time we are getting your support. My directorate was disconnected from electricity for about two months. But you came to our aid and got us reconnected.”

“Now, our officers are back on our feet working hard. You have also deemed it fit by giving us exercise books for our children. We will ensure that every child receives an exercise book” she assured.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Otito Achuliwor has picked up nomination paper work to contest the New Patriotic Party primaries in the Navrongo central constituency.

Alhaji Otito picked the form followed by a flock of supporters who chanted his vision for the area.
He said he is a unifier who has come to heal the cracks in the party to help win the seat by a landslide victory.
