New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential contender Kennedy Agyapong has urged delegates in the Bantama Constituency to exercise their vote freely in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries on Jan. 31, saying he is willing to work with the incumbent MP despite previous allegations.
Agyapong, known for his outspoken style, had in 2024 accused Francis Asenso-Boakye of corruption during his tenure as Works and Housing Minister.
However, speaking at a meeting with delegates ahead of the 2026 primaries, Agyapong indicated that personal differences would not prevent collaboration if elected representatives work for the development of Bantama.
Trump analogy
The former Assin Central lawmaker encouraged delegates to vote without fear, drawing a parallel with U.S. politics, referencing former President Donald Trump’s past rivalry with Senator Marco Rubio, who later served in his administration.
“Nobody should be scared that I can’t work with your MP Asenso-Boakye… “And so, Bantama, this time around we don’t have a President, a Vice President, or a CEO in our constituency. I urge you to have courage and vote for your own.
Even if there were a President or a minister from Bantama, who would have the final say? I, as your voice and advocate, will give the direction [as President], and Bantama will witness real development—because this is my root, my home,” he said.
While he reaffirmed his 2024 criticisms, Agyapong did not make new allegations, instead focusing on rallying support and urging delegates to vote independently.
