Over half of the Assembly members in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality have been mischievously left out of the MCE’s confirmation process this morning after the scheduled time for voting was changed in a bizarre manner.
According to sources, the Assembly members were informed the confirmation will take place at 2pm on Wednesday (16 April).
This was after the MCE nominee, Ismail Zagoon Saeed, failed to secure two-thirds of the total valid votes cast on Tuesday. He secured 35 out of a total valid vote of 53, representing 35.3%.
The Assembly members were therefore given Wednesday at 2pm to come for the second round of voting after the meeting was adjourned. But sources indicate that at 8:50 am today, a notice was posted on the Assembly members Whatsapp platform that the time has been changed to 9am.
Shortly after the notice, some Assembly members quickly rushed to the venue but voting had already ended with just 22 Assembly members present confirming Ismail Zagoon Saeed as the MCE. Some of them who even got there whilst voting was ongoing were denied entry into the Assembly hall.
The affected Assembly members have therefore threatened to use all legal means to have the voting annulled.
