The doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have resumed their suspended strike over unpaid car maintenance allowance and 13-month salary.
This was contained in a communique issued on Friday (4 February), just days after meeting management of the hospital and the Ministry of Health over the issue.
The doctors insist their employers have shown no commitment to effect payment of monies owed them as agreed in their conditions of service on 25 March 2021, hence their intended action.
Speaking to Asaase News, the vice chairman of the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association, Dr Kwaku Nyame said leadership will ensure that members will comply with the directive.
Deferred strike
On 1 February the KATH doctors postponed their intended strike having met with management of the hospital and the Ministry of Health.
“After engagement with the management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital today 31 January 2022, on non payment of car maintenance allowance and 13th month allowance for doctors in KATH, we decided to defer the start of our intended strike action which was to start tomorrow 1 February 2022 to Friday 4 February 2022.
“This decision was taken at our emergency general meeting held on 31 January 2022. The decision was taken after a show of some commitment by Hospital Management and the Ministry of Health to end the long-standing stalemate in the fulfilment of our signed conditions of service in 2019.”
“We hope, as agreed, earlier at the meeting of KADA executives with hospital management, that by the end of working hours on Thursday 3 February 2021, there will be a clear concise payment schedule, “ the statement said.
