Dismissal of students from hostel not authorised, says UPSA

Two female students of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) were reportedly dismissed from the university’s hostel for allegedly engaging in lesbianism

The management of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) says it has not taken a decision to dismiss two female students accused of lesbianism.

In a statement on Wednesday (24 November), UPSA said, “The vice-chancellor of UPSA is the chief disciplinary officer, and all decisions taken by the vice-chancellor are communicated through the registrar.”
“Any disciplinary communication that does not follow the above procedure is not authorised by management,” the statement added.

The management of the university has, therefore, urged the public to disregard the earlier decision on the matter being circulated on social media since “no disciplinary report on the alleged incident is before it for a final decision.”
