Piesie Esther: It’s my prayer to convert Blacko to Christianity

The gospel act says it is her prayer that the current Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif, joins her in doing gospel music

The VGMA Gospel Artiste of the Year, Piesie Esther, has said it is her wish to have Ghanaian singer and rapper Black Sherif join the gospel music fraternity.

“It is my prayer that Blacko – a Muslim – does gospel music,” she told Naa Ashorkor on Monday (8 May).

“With the kind of powerful voice that he has, I wish that someday he will come and join me in gospel music,” Piesie Esther who lost the ultimate title as Artiste of the Year at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to Blacko said on Asaase 99.5 Accra.

“And I know my prayer will work,” she said on the Between Hours show.

One people

“I know he’s a Muslim, but it doesn’t matter. Muslims and Christians are one people,” the deaconess of The Church of Pentecost said.

She said finishing off the contest as first-runner up is a plus to her.

“I didn’t go with the mentality that I deserved this more than he did. Taking second place in the vote counting is a plus for me.

“I am so happy because I love him,” Piesie Esther said. “He [Blacko] has too much talent.”

Piesie Esther grabbed two awards – Best Gospel Song with “Wayɛ me yie” and the Best Gospel Artiste of the Year.
