John Ansah elected as Ghana League clubs Chairman

John Ansah has been elected the new Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).

Ansah will lead the association after sweeping 96 votes out of the total 132 in the elections on Thursday, (23 January), at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ansah has pledged to foster collaboration within the football community and seek advice from colleagues to elevate GHALCA.

“I think there is some big challenge on bringing ourselves [football people] together. I want to drive on that.

“If you look at my flyer, I said that I want to be a productive leader, which means that I want to bring everybody on board.

“I’ll solicit a lot of advice from my senior and even my colleagues to be able to lift GHALCA from where it was,” he said.

Ansah and Isaac Wilberforce Koomson were the two parties who contested for the Chairmanship position in this year’s elections.  Koomson claimed 35 of the votes with one being rejected.

He is expected to take over from the outgoing Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo.

Phyllis Marku (94) beat Nana Amankwah (34) to the VIce President position while Gabriel Godwin was voted the Regional Football Association representative ahead of Isaac Gasper.

Fred Tindan also won the Premier League representative position ahead of Joseph Nkoo and Rahman Yakubu.

Other positions include:

  • Treasurer: Patrick Martey Boye retains his position for a second term.
  • Division One League Representative: Eric Opoku.
  • Regional Clubs Representative: Gabriel Godwin Kwao.
  • Women’s Premier League Representative: ASP Naomi F. Abdulai (CEO of Prisons Ladies).
