Jinapor meets heads of agencies under Trade Ministry

Samuel Abu Jinapor, the acting Minister of Trade on Monday (23 January) met with management of the ministry to strategise for the days ahead.

The meeting which was attended by heads of agencies under the ministry, was to discuss ways of working together to deliver.

“Today, I chaired a management meeting at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, where I serve as the caretaker minister. The meeting, which was also attended by heads of agencies under the ministry, was to discuss ways of working together to deliver on the mandate of the Ministry,” he tweeted.

“Still at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, I received a delegation from the British High Commission, led by the High Commissioner, H.E Harriet Thompson, to discuss trade relations between our countries,” he added.

Handing over

Alan Kyerematen last week handed over to Jinapor following his resignation last Thursday (5 January) to pursue his presidential ambition.

His resignation took effect Monday 16 January 2023 and at a brief handing over ceremony at the trade ministry, the former trade advisor at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa, briefed Jinapor about the operations of the ministry and presented his handing over notes.

For his part, Jinapor said he will be committed to work with all stakeholders and partners to realise the vision of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

“I pledged my commitment to work with all stakeholders and partners to steer the affairs of this Ministry until a substantive minister is appointed,” Jinapor, who is the substantive minister for lands and natural resources tweeted after the event.
