
The Volta Regional Minister,James Gunu, has called for greater transparency, accountability, and innovation in public financial management to drive national development.
Speaking at the opening of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) 2025 Annual Conference at Ho Technical University, James Gunu described the event’s theme, “Enhancing Public Financial Management Excellence,” as timely and crucial for the country’s progress.
“Excellence in this area ensures that resources are used efficiently for the benefit of all Ghanaians and builds trust between the government and the people,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of robust financial systems in achieving sustainable development in the Volta Region and Ghana at large, linking strong fiscal management to improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and local governance.
Gunu commended the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department for its role in promoting sound financial practices and encouraged participants to embrace innovation and collaboration in pursuit of financial management excellence.
The conference, brought together financial experts, public servants, and policymakers from across the country, is expected to spark strategic discussions and practical solutions to strengthen Ghana’s financial governance.
