The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jaman North Constituency has firmly denied reports suggesting that flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s recent visit to Sampa triggered renewed chieftaincy clashes in the area.
In a statement signed by the Constituency Organiser, Salia Issah Malori, the party described the reports as “false, misleading, and a calculated attempt to sow confusion.”
According to the statement, Agyapong, as part of his Unity Tour, was received by the constituency executives upon arrival and was escorted directly to the official venue of the programme, Border View, near the Bondoukou road.
“At no point did Kennedy Agyapong visit any palace or pay a courtesy call on any chief in Sampa. Immediately after the event, he departed straight to Drobo without branching anywhere in Sampa,” the statement clarified.
The NPP stressed that the ongoing chieftaincy disturbances in Sampa have no connection to Agyapong’s political activities and urged the public to disregard the circulating rumours.
“The falsehood is a deliberate attempt to create disaffection. We entreat party faithful, the good people of Jaman North, and the general public to treat such claims with the contempt they deserve,” the statement concluded.
The party’s rebuttal comes amid heightened tensions in Sampa following violent clashes linked to the long-standing chieftaincy dispute, which left one person feared dead and several others injured yesterday, Wednesday, 10 September 2025.
