Isaac Osei appointed board chair of GPHA

Osei, the former MP for Subin and managing director of the Tema Oil Refinery, will lead the 11-member board of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA)

Isaac Osei, the former managing director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), has been appointed to chair the 11-member board of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

Other members of the board of GHAPOHA, as it is commonly known, are the GPHA director general, Michael A Luguje; Mabel Asi Sagoe of the Transport Ministry; Captain Ebenezer Afadzi, director of Takoradi Port; Sandra Opoku, director of Tema Port; and Benonita Bismarck, representing the Ghana Shippers’ Authority.

The other GPHA board members are Clement Osei-Amoako of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Adam Imoru Ayama, representing private shipping companies; Michael Adjei Anyetei, the managing director of Ghana Railway Company Ltd; Samuel Kofi Arhin, representing GPHA employees; and Francisca Oteng Mensah, a presidential nominee.

About GPHA

GPHA is a statutory corporation, established under Ghana’s Provisional National Defence Council Law (PNDCL 160) of 1986 to build, plan, develop, manage, maintain, operate and control all ports in Ghana.

The Authority manages and operates the sea ports of Ghana and various business units in collaboration with a number of private service providers in the areas of vessel handling, stevedoring, transfer, storage, receipt and delivery of containerised and general cargo.

Other areas of responsibility are safety, security and conservancy services.
