India’s Modi celebrated in Accra with prestigious civilian award
Modi said the honour is a symbol of the growing historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries, and he dedicated it to the aspirations of the youth, Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, and the enduring partnership between Accra and New Delhi

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep gratitude to the Government and people of Ghana after being conferred with the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana, the country’s highest civilian honour.
In a Facebook post, Modi said the honour is a symbol of the growing historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries, and he dedicated it to the aspirations of the youth, Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, and the enduring partnership between Accra and New Delhi.
“This honour is also a responsibility,” the Indian leader noted, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening India-Ghana relations.
He pledged that India would continue to stand by Ghana as a reliable development partner and trusted friend.
The award, often reserved for distinguished global statesmen and diplomats, is seen as a recognition of India’s sustained support for Ghana’s development through trade, education, health, and digital cooperation.
India and Ghana have enjoyed decades of bilateral relations dating back to the post-independence era, with collaborations spanning infrastructure development, technical training, and support for Ghana’s digital transformation.
