The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has lifted the ban on the operation of beaches during the Christmas festivities in the capital, an official statement said on Thursday (30 December).
Ahead of the festive season, the REGSEC ordered that all beaches should remain closed as a result of the surging Omicron variant in the country.
However, after a meeting on Thursday, the security council reviewed its earlier directive saying patrons must show proof of vaccination before being allowed entry.
“Entry to the beaches shall be allowed for only persons who show proof of vaccination,” the statement signed by the Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey said.
“The Ghana Health Service shall mount vaccination points at all beach facilities to provide vaccination for persons who are not vaccinated before entry,” the statement added.
