NDC has elected accomplished propagandists, says Gabby

The main opposition NDC over the weekend elected Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Fifi Kwetey as chairman and general secretary respectively at its 10th National Delegates Congress

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a political strategist and prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected a solid team of propagandists to lead the party into the 2024 elections.

The NDC over the weekend elected Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Fifi Kwetey as national chairman and general secretary respectively at the Accra Sports Stadium to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

In a tweet on Sunday (18 December), Otchere-Darko congratulated the newly-elected executives, adding that the strategy for 2024 is now set.

“Congratulations to the NDC and their new national officers! Asiedu Nketiah is now the Chairman-General (apologies to Kwami!) What is clear is that Ghana’s opposition party has settled on a solid team of accomplished propagandists in all departments. The strategy for 2024 is set,” Otchere-Darko tweeted.

Nketiah, who until this latest election had served as the general secretary of the party for the past 17 years, received 5,569 votes (65.17% of the vote), as against his main contender, the immediate past chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who garnered 2,892 votes (33.81%).

Of the other contenders for the chairmanship, Samuel Yaw Adusei had 52 votes (representing 0.61% of total votes cast) while Nii Armah Ashitey won 38 votes (0.44%).

Fifi Kwetey, the former MP for Ketu South, becomes the party’s new general secretary.
