I won’t leave my husband even if he cheats, says former gender minister

Cynthia Mamle Morrison says the strength of the bond she shares with her husband is built on deep understanding and enduring love

Former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has publicly declared her steadfast loyalty to her husband, emphasising that she would remain committed to him even in the face of infidelity.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News on 24 April, the ex-Member of Parliament for Agona West highlighted the strength of the bond she shares with her husband, stressing that their relationship is built on deep understanding and enduring love.

“Even if you come and tell me you saw my husband with another lady, I will not leave him. Even if I go and see him with a lady, I will just pick him up and we will come home,” Morrison said.

She explained that leaving a marriage over infidelity could lead to greater uncertainties, as a new relationship might bring unforeseen problems. “I am telling you on national television because from there, I don’t know the next man I’m going to meet. He could be worse than my husband. So whatever you have, you polish it,” she added.

During the interview, Morrison also addressed political tensions she faced ahead of the 2024 elections. She recalled how her former assistant, Chris Arthur, allegedly told constituents that her husband supported his decision to challenge her during the NPP parliamentary primaries — a move she said contributed to her eventual loss.

After losing the NPP primary, Morrison ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections but was unsuccessful in reclaiming her seat.
