GSA seeks collaboration to empower shippers in Volta Region
The conversation centered on collaborative engagements with shippers in the region to improve the nation’s trade facilitation as well as increase export from the region
The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has held a stakeholder consultative meeting in the Volta Regional capital, Ho to forge collaboration with key state agencies to empower shippers in the region.
The conversation centered on collaborative engagements with shippers in the region to improve the nation’s trade facilitation as well as increase export from the region.
In his opening remarks, Charles Darling Sey, the Tema Branch Manager indicated that the GSA has also resolved to partner with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region to promote international trade.
He mentioned that collaborating with each other to execute programmes and activities is one of the surest ways to go taking into consideration the limited resources available to individual organizations at the Regional and District levels.
“We need to come together to pull resources together to support shippers. The export potential of the region is huge, and we need to come up with strategies to encourage it. We at the GSA have a mandate to promote and protect the interest of shippers across the country but our work can be expedited if we have all of you supporting us and we also avail ourselves to support you. The aim is the growth of the shipper and we know the rippling benefit for the region and the state” Mr. Sey said.
The stakeholder consultative meeting forms part of the Tema Branch’s pursuit to foster collaboration and deepen cooperation amongst its stakeholders in the Volta Region.
The meeting which was held on 15 June, 2022 was attended by Volta Regional representatives from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Standards Authority, Food and Drugs Authority, the Association of Ghana Industries among others.
