Life Beacon International organises back to school project in Christ Foster Home School

This year marked the fifth year of successfully running  the Back-to-School project in Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Togo

Life Beacon International (Life Beacon), a non-profit organisation based in the United Kingdom, dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering young people and volunteers, on 16th February 2024, organised its annual “Back-to-School” project at the Christ Foster Home School in Madina, a suburb of Accra, Ghana.

This year marked the fifth year of successfully running  the Back-to-School project in Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire and Togo. The project is one of the many projects the Mum and Child Department organises annually in line with its core mission areas of education, wellbeing, and faith.

Aligned with Life Beacon’s mission, the “Back-to-School” project aimed to provide educational support to underserved children while promoting their overall wellbeing.

The primary goal of the project was to provide basic essential school supplies to the children, ensuring they are equipped for a successful academic year.

In addition to providing supplies, the project aimed to bring joy and encouragement to the children, thereby fostering a positive learning environment and positive change within the community.

Through the hard work of Life Beacon’s Chairperson. Dr. Ruby Appiah-Campbell and the generosity of some of our donors including-Loughborough University Business School and Loughborough University Students Union, Life Beacon was able to present, back packs, pencils, pens, notebooks, sharpeners, erasers, tote bags, water bottles, drinking mugs, and other necessary school supplies to 163 children.

Members of the Life Beacon University of Ghana Club (LBI-UG), by the able leadership of their president, Mr. Sebastian Etornam Kojo Ladzekpo and club patron Frank Agyire-Tettey dedicated their time and engaged with the children through interactive sessions, including storytelling, games, and motivational talks, to inspire and empower them. They also had short educational sessions with the older children to equip them with essential life skills and provide guidance on career aspirations.

Through the provision of school supplies and engaging activities, the project not only enhances educational opportunities but also fosters hope and optimism among the children.

The “Back-to-School” project made a significant impact on the children and the community as it provided the children with basic necessary tools to pursue their education. The excitement and the joy expressed by the children reflected the positive impact the project had on their emotional wellbeing, which is one of the goals of the project.

Feedback from the headmistress Ms. Nicholina on behalf of the staff and children indicated an overwhelming gratitude and appreciation from the support they received from Life Beacon and in the spirit of reinforcing philanthropy encouraged other organisations to emulate this kind gesture.

The children also expressed excitement and eagerness to utilise their new school supplies, highlighting the project’s success in fulfilling its objectives.

In an interview with Life Beacon International Public Engagement Coordinator, Ms. Nadia Berchtenbreiter from Germany and the Admin coordinator, Mr. Ebenezer Solomon from the UK, they expressed that, looking ahead, Life Beacon aims to expand its outreach efforts and continue supporting underserved communities in Ghana and beyond. Future projects may include educational scholarships, infrastructure development, and vocational training initiatives to further empower disadvantaged youth.

The Back to School Project organised by the Mum and Child Department exemplifies the organisation’s commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people. As Life Beacon continues its impactful work, it remains dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people while promoting a sustainable future for all.
