Hearts of Oak won’t adopt Kotoko’s player overhaul strategy, says Aboubakar Ouattara

Following a disappointing season, the Porcupine Warriors parted ways with 21 players and are expected to make 14 new additions

Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has stated that the Phobians will not follow arch-rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s approach to player transfers.

Following a disappointing season, the Porcupine Warriors parted ways with 21 players and are expected to make 14 additions. Hearts similarly endured a tough campaign last season, battling relegation until the final day.

However, Coach Ouattara does not believe that letting go off majority of players is the way to improve their situation for next season.

“You are sacking 100 and bringing 200, what is the results? When I look at the record since six seasons we are struggling, every time we are doing the same why hasn’t it changed,” he said in an interview with SportsObama TV.

“Do you think if we sack 11, 22 or 100 players we bring in 100 and we start again, you are wasting money. If you take a player and he played one season because he didn’t play well you sack and bring another one, I think everyone has his policy.”

Hearts of Oak have reportedly sign Nations FC center-back Michael Awuah and will complete his medicals this

week. The player will sign a contract which will keep him until 2026.

The Phobians have also agreed to sign Nations FC forward Asamoah Boateng and he is expected to undergo his medicals this week.
