Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, the defeated MP for Ledzokuku Constituency, on Monday resumed consultancy work at the LEKMA Hospital, a week after he lost his seat in the 7 December parliamentary elections.
The lawmaker, who doubles as Deputy Health Minister, contested on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) but lost the seat to his main contender, Ben Ayiku, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ayiku won by a slim margin in the elections after polling 55, 938, as against 54,072 votes by Dr Boye.
On Monday 14 December, Dr Boye took to his Facebook wall to express pleasure in serving the community, despite his loss.
“First post election Monday consultations at the LEKMA Hospital. Some staff were happy to see me doing fine, some surprised at my activity having assumed that not winning the Parliamentary election meant away with community service,” he posted.
He added: “It is important to understand that the joy a true leader experiences does not lie in the position he holds but in the service his people receive. Okoe concedes
The Deputy Health Minister last week conceded defeat to his main opponent after a marathon counting and verification of ballots by EC officials after the poll at the Teshie Police Station.
The Returning Officer of the Ledzokuku Constituency, James Boateng, also declared that there were 110,821 valid ballots with 766 rejected ballots while the total votes cast was 111,587.
