Ghana will emerge a stronger country after COVID-19 – Akufo-Addo

The president believes that Ghana will emerge a stronger and self-reliant country once its fight with the novel coronavirus is over

President Akufo-Addo says Ghana will emerge a stronger, self-reliant country when its fight with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is over.

In brief remarks after touring the Pantang COVID-19 treatment centre, a facility being built through the joint efforts of the Electricity Company of Ghana and the government, President Akufo-Addo said the public-private initiative to build the centre is a very welcoming development.

The COVID-19 Treatment Centre in Pantang

“Every challenge, every disaster, is an opportunity and that is how we should look at where we are with this COVID-19. It has come, it has caused destruction, but out of it we should emerge a stronger country than we were before the COVID-19.

“That is my commitment, that is what I am working for … we will come out of this thing stronger than we were before we went into the COVID-19,” he said.

Future of the centre

According to the president, the Pantang COVID-19 Treatment Centre is bing built to treat and host COVID-19-related cases and patients, but it will be transformed into an infectious diseases centre once the pandemic ends in Ghana.

He charged the hospital administrators to look after the facility and make sure that it is maintained so that it can serve generations of Ghanaians to come.
