COVID-19: Ghana’s situation as of 29 May 2020

From initial findings, 15.15% of the Ghanaian returnees from Kuwait (35 out of 231) are testing positive for COVID-19

Brief report on 36th death

A 93-year-old male, a known hypertensive and also with prostate cancer, was admitted in a hospital in Accra with a complaint of difficulty in breathing and cough. COVID -19 was suspected and the patient isolated at the emergency room. COVID -19 samples were taken on 26 May 2020 and results obtained on 29 May 2020 confirmed as positive. He died on 30 May 2020.

Initial results of Kuwaiti returnees

The results of the initial test of all 231 Kuwaiti returnees had 35 (15.15%) of them being positive for COVID-19.

Preventive measures for the general public

  • Stay at home; observe social distancing; avoid shaking hands.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, dispose the tissue in a closed bin, and then wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects or surfaces such as remote controls and doorknobs.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Always wear a mask, particularly when leaving home
