COVID-19: Ghana records 12 more deaths

Ghana's active cases as at 7 February stand at 6,948 pushing the total confirmed cases since March 2020 to 73,557

At least 12 more persons have died of COVID-19 taking Ghana’s death toll to 494, health officials announced Thursday evening.

The country’s active cases now stand at 6,948 after 554 new coronavirus cases were confirmed at the laboratories.

As at 7 February 2021, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) reports that the country’s total confirmed cases increased to 73,557 out of which 66,115 have recovered.

52 persons arrested for flouting protocols 

At least 52 persons are being processed for court for breaching COVID-19 protocols, the Bono East regional police commander, DCOP Asumadu Okyere Darko, has said.

The suspects are made up of 48 males and four females. They have since been granted bail. The police commander said the region is not relenting in its effort to enforce the safety protocols of COVID-19.

DCOP Darko made the disclosure in an interaction with the media during the second phase of nationwide disinfection of police facilities by Zoomlion.

He said with the rising cases of coronavirus, the police administration saw the need to engage  Zoomlion Ghana Limited to disinfect all police installations nationwide.

The disinfection exercise, according to him, is taking place in Yeji, Atebubu, Kintampo, Techiman and Nkronsa.
