Carlos Ahenkorah is COVID-19-negative – Ghana Health Service

The Ghana Health Service has declared that Carlos Ahenkorah, the MP for Tema West and former deputy minister for trade and industry, does not have COVID-19

The Ghana Health Service has declared Carlos Ahenkorah, the MP for Tema West and former deputy minister for trade and industry, COVID-19-negative.

Ahenkorah resigned as deputy minister recently after he was accused of breaching the COVID-19 protocols although he had tested positive but was asymptomatic.

A letter to the Tema West MP. dated Friday 9 July 2020 and signed by the director general of the Ghana Health Service, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, disclosed that Ahenkorah had obtained two consecutive negative laboratory test results for COVID-19.

“For this reason you are deemed to have recovered from COVID-19 infection and so can return to work, the letter said.

The GHS has however cautioned the former deputy minister to continue to observe the precautionary measures, because he is not immune from contracting the virus.

These include wearing a face mask at all times in public places, frequent washing of hands with soap under running water, covering the mouth and noise with tissue paper when coughing or sneezing and disposing of used tissues promptly and safely.

Below is the full statement by the Ghana Health Service.
